When your good friend contacts you and says, “Mary, I have a new series releasing on September 21st and I’d like for you to help spread the word,” you just say yes. Why? Because you know that whatever that book is about is a game changer. Because she is a game changer.
Enter Gutsy Girls: Strong Christian Women Who Impacted the World. In book 1, which releases today (EEEEK!! GO GET THIS BOOK!! Ahem.) we are introduced to Gladys Aylward – maid, missionary, spy, foot inspector, friend to prisoners – an all around gutsy girl. She did amazing, extraordinary things for God and those around her. She listened to His voice and took off for China and well, you’ll have to get the book to read the rest of the story.
But to the natural eye, Gladys didn’t “look gutsy.” And in the times we live in, I’m drawn more and more to those every day, ordinary people who do gutsy things – for God, for their community. Gutsy isn’t a look. It isn’t a style. It’s a posture of the heart and one that can be/should be deeply instilled in our children from the moment they hear our voices. As a matter of fact, we all should be gutsy.
You can make a difference.
You can do brave things.
You are destined by God to be a world-changer.
My 8 year old gobbled this book up – all 1000 words of it. The beautiful illustrations by Beverly Wine jumped off the page at her and she asked all KINDS of questions while reading (and after) about being gutsy, being brave, listening to God’s voice, helping others.
If you have young girls in your sphere of influence, this is an excellent investment! I’m excited to see the next book (hurry up Amy and get that thing written!!!!) just as much as my daughter is.
Even at 44, I want to learn to be gutsy. I want to make a difference. I want to be a strong, Christian woman who impacts the world.
