never stop learning | pursuit of proverbs 31

There will always be room for improvement in our lives, which is why it is important that we are always open to learning.

Unfortunately, we have been the target of some outrageous media propaganda. Some of it sets our flesh racing in the wrong direction so we turn to the church where we receive conflicting views on biblical truths. No wonder we are so stinkin’ confused when it comes to our roles as Christ following women. Even within Christianity there are views that go from one end of the spectrum to the other. What’s a girl to do?

As I read and meditated on the Scriptures and tried applying them to my life, something odd happened. I became filled with anger, bitterness, anxiety, and was more overwhelmed than when I started. When I heard other women speak about all the Proverbs 31 guidelines they had achieved I would feel myself cringe inside. Why was I different? Why couldn’t I just get it?

There’s a reason I could never “get it”.

It’s important that we are always on a journey of learning and we must be careful to who we are listening to and learning from.

If you’ve ever wanted to tear the 31st chapter of Proverbs out of your bible this book is for you.

She is a wife, mom, business owner, seamstress, she serves the needy, speaks life and wisdom, and seems to be quite the major overachiever, perfectionist type.

Except that…she’s not.

Come along and journey with Amy and take a look at the real woman of Proverbs 31. She isn’t as perfect as she seems. In fact, I think she is a lot like you and me.

We All Married Idiots: Three Things You Will Never Change About Your Marriage And Ten Things You Can by Elaine W. Miller

About the Book

I married an idiot–and so did my spouse. The word, “idiot” is derived from the Greek word meaning “common man.” Aren’t we all common man? In fact, there is only One who was uncommon man–Jesus Christ.  Elaine W. Miller encourages couples to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus and run a marriage marathon like an idiot, but not like a fool. An idiot may stumble or fall, but a fool runs the wrong way.

We All Married Idiots teaches husbands and wives to stop concentrating on the three things you will never change in your marriage and begin focusing on the ten things you can. Then, you will esteem your mate as a gift to treasure, not as an idiot to tolerate.

You can purchase the book here.

My Review

This book is so refreshing! What I love most about it is that at the end of each chapter, the reader has the opportunity to meditate on the chapter contents, discuss key points and pray.  Each chapter has a specific topic.  I love how Elaine shares key insights into marriage – sticking it out, watching attitudes, making time for each other.  She takes a fresh, upbeat approach and I appreciate the loving way she makes sure you get the point – we all married idiots, so lighten up!

The author sent me the above book for review purposes. She will allow me to keep the book. I have no other connection to and have received no other compensation from Elaine W. Miller.
