busy times | another update

So posting apparently isn’t my forte these last few weeks.

I’m going to blame burnout on school work as my excuse.

Yeah.  That sounds good.

And now, the bullet points.  You’re welcome.

  • New Day – Well.  To say we’ve been busy is an understatement.  I just finished coordinating and executing a 5 day conference.  And it was great.  But I’m tired.  ;)   We had Peter Jackson from Toronto visiting us to teach at the School of Ministry and of course, a conference open to anyone.  It was a powerful, thought-provoking, heart-changing weekend.  He taught on the Father’s Love.  You can listen to the conference teachings by clicking here.  They’re good.  Seriously.
  • Liberty University Online – I’m currently in week 6 of 8.  Yes, two more weeks to go and then I’m on break until August.  Excitement doesn’t begin to describe it.  I’m so ready for a break I could scream.  Then, only 2 more semesters and I graduate!  HOLLA!
  • In other news my parents will be here this weekend.  I am so excited to see them.  I love when family comes to visit.  But they really aren’t coming to see me.  Nope.  They may need to pick me up off the floor once they get here, but they’re actually coming because  someone (no, it isn’t me.  ahem.) is turning 16 on Sunday. OHMYGOSHIHAVEA16YEAROLD!!  So we’re in the midst of planning a slumber party/beach day complete with pizza, popcorn, movies, an AWESOME birthday cake and whatever presents we can muster up.  ;)   Wow.  I’m getting old and my first born is growing up.  I hate it and I love it all at the same time.
  • Mary Hess Designs – I’ve been busy.  And that’s good.  :)   Several new designs in my portfolio.  If you haven’t already, please like the page on Facebook and follow along!  And if you know anyone who’s needing a new look (well, for their blog or website – there’s only so much I can do. . . lol) then send them my way!
  • Last but not least, God has been doing some amazing things in my life these last few weeks.  It’s amazing what the love of the Father can do in your life when you finally let go of the fear and insecurities that have held you captive for so long.  Every day He amazes me.  Every day He captivates me.  Every day He’s just a breath away.  I love that.  I love who I am when I’m with Him.  Yeah.  It’s good.  Real good.

Have a great week peeps.  I’ll be back on a more regular basis soon.

a little of this | and a little of that

Now back to our originally scheduled programming. . . .

Life has just been busy.

But that’s nothing new in the Hess household.

I just have to say it.

Life has just been busy.

So it’s a bullet point, picture kind of day.

You’re welcome.

Liberty University – School work continues.   I had a week off but it didn’t feel like it. ;)   I’m slowly but surely plowing through these classes with the intent on graduating next Spring.   Hurry up and get here Graduation, please and thank you.

‘Cause this ol’ gal is burning out quick on school.   Burning. Out.   Reading, papers, papers, and more papers.   And while I love to write it is sucking the life out of me.

But I’m so close.   And I can’t quit now.   So I press on.   And on.   And on.

New Day SoM – Last year I had the honor of being a part of the Inaugural class of New Day’s School of Ministry.   And we had a wonderful, life-changing time.   This year, I get to participate again but from a staff side.   So that is exciting, especially since my hubby is attending this year.   I’m helping out with the media, leading worship on occasion, being a small group leader and getting to teach a few times!   It’s amazing to see everyone so hungry to be in an intimate relationship with God.   We’re walking through Hearing God’s Voice, Flowing in the Prophetic, The Father’s Heart, Extending the Kingdom.   And to boot I got a new journal!   Woot!   Love me some new journals. . . .

Haley participated in her first talent show at her school last Friday.   She did a wonderful job!   I loved being able to watch her sing on stage and participate in a good cause as well.

She sang a duet with her friend Sarah Dutart.   They did a Rascall Flatts number “Bless the Broken Road.”   And they rocked. the. house.

She didn’t win but she did a phenomenal job!   We love you Haley!

If you follow me on Facebook then you know I quit my full time job.   Again.   Yeah.   ‘Cause that’s how I roll, yo.   It didn’t pan out to be what I was hoping for and so hubby said, “Quit.”   So I did.   Well, it may have been more like, “Honey, can I quit?”   And he said yes.   Because of this change, I’m home more now when church work and my trainer position allows.   That is different for me.

And keeping a 5 year old entertained while you’re still trying to work on web designs, school work and church work can be quite the chore.   So, I created a schedule for us.   And it’s actually been a good thing – so far.

Yeah.   That’s the schedule over there.   Zoe is thrilled with it.   And fully expects me to keep to it – to. the. minute.   LOL   She is constantly wanting to just play – all day long, so this gives her some guidance.   It also helps me to get some things done but still be fully present with her when I take the break.

Church is so amazing right now.   I wish I could aptly convey to you how beautiful, wonderful and awesome it feels to know that we are in the right place and that it’s good.   New Day has been so instrumental in being an example of community.   People loving people – no cliques, no favorites.   Just everyone being with everyone.   It’s been absolutely wonderful to absorb sound teaching and quite honestly, see the leadership de-mistify areas in our walk with God that kept us so far away from Him.

It’s been quite the journey these last 3 years.   Yeah.   It’s been 3 years (in May) that we will have started attending New Day.   The road has been rocky, tumultuous, joyful, peaceful and uncomfortable.   But you know what?   I’d walk it all over again to know what I know right now.   This is community.   This is healthy relationship.   This is walking with God.

Work   – I am so loving working with ShowingTime.   This is a vendor the local MLS uses to book showing appointments.   They have hired me for a while to train the local agents and help out with any questions they may have.   If I could be a corporate trainer, I totally would be that all. day. long.   I’ve also been helping out a couple of ministries with their websites.   So between that and school work, my day slips by rather quickly.   But it’s still a ton better than punching a clock from 9-5 five days a week AND doing all of the stuff I just mentioned.   :)
