I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for over 13 years now. From our time in Charleston, SC to our latest adventure in the mountains of North Carolina planting a church, this place is full of peeks into our lives – the good, the bad and the ugly. What started out as a way to keep my family in Kentucky up to date with our adventures, has turned into a place where I have been chronicling my journey with my Father. Now if you read these pages, you’ll find a woman who has been walking through the Refiner’s fire and sitting on the Potter’s wheel – neither of which are fun processes. You’ll see transparency, honesty, frustration, elation and above all else – peace. Because I know I’m His and He is mine. Welcome.
Shannon is the most tender-hearted individual I have ever met. He loves helping people. He is big in stature, but his heart is even bigger. We’ve been married almost 14 years now and are really enjoying each other and our time together. We like each other a lot! Shannon is like my favorite pair of jeans – comfortable, reliable, cute and well, fun. He is my best friend! If I had to choose any one in the world to spend time with, it would be him – hands down. His love for God is amazing and he leads by example. And what a wonderful father! He has treated my daughter Haley as his own and when the 4 of us are all together, you would never know she’s his step daughter. That’s a mighty good man.
Our 21 year old (WHAT?!) is currently spending her days in college and at her job. She graduates as an RN, December 2017! She is soft and tender and lovely and always is the first to help out. I love her heart for others and for God, but most of all I love that she is my girl. She’s strong and brave and I love how she perseveres even when she really feels like giving up. This past year has been quite the struggle for her as she is currently overcoming an eating disorder. But with the help of God, her counselor, church family and of course, us, she is making great strides. God is our Healer and we know that He will work all of this out for His good. We trust Him. She trusts Him. And we rest in that.
Zoe is our resident comedian, actress, and dancer. She’s almost 11 years old and has the soul of someone 27. Definitely makes for interesting days around here. She is funny, helpful, hilarious and keeps us on our toes all. day. long. We love her determination, her independence, her desire for justice and the underdog and her love for reading. She is the most free-spirited child and has the most tender heart. This year she starts middle school and BAND! This momma is excited about being a Band mom!
